You should be able to find all the rules and guidelines on the M D A website.

While on the subject of being law abiding citizens, remember that oral sex is also illegal in Singapore (unless it leads to full on rompy pompy)

pp, you should take a step back and look at yourself.  You were sad enough stalking MP, but now you are trying to impersonate him.  It's creepy.

oral sex is illegal, gax sex as well.

watching porn is not illegal, but having porn material in your possession is.

but watching a movie on the internet is not because the movie is not in your posession (although some argue that the content is downloaded to your pc).

having said that, that would allow starhub/singtel to offer porn TV as well if it is hosted on overseas server, right ?

Not true - heterosexual oral sex was legalised in 2007. It's still illegal between men. There appears to be no law prohibiting it between women.

watching porn is not illegal, but having porn material in your possession is.
Not true - possession is not illegal, but distribution is. You can't sell it, or host a porn website, or post it on forums etc.

Be careful, possession of pornographic i.e. "obscene" films is also illegal in Singapore and the penalties are pretty hefty. You can surf it, but if you download movies it counts as possession.

From the Films Act:

Possession of obscene films
30. —(1) Any person who has in his possession any obscene film shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine of not less than $500 for each such film he had in his possession (but not to exceed in the aggregate $20,000) or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both.
[10/98]
(2) Any person who has in his possession any obscene film knowing or having reasonable cause to believe the film to be obscene shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction —
(a) to a fine of $1,000 for each such film in his possession (but not to exceed in the aggregate $40,000) or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or to both; and
(b) in the case of a second or subsequent conviction, to a fine of not less than $2,000 for each such film in his possession (but not to exceed in the aggregate $80,000) or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years or to both.

hetrosexual oral sex was OK in Singapore prior to 2007 provided it was as foreplay and not a standalone act. If so it was then considered to be a carnal act against the order of nature.

So to illustrate, its 2006 in the republic of Singapore and the police happen to enter a bedroom where man and wife are indulging in an act of oral sex. Technically they are breaking the law and can be booked. If however they were to jump on the bed and engage in a full act of carnal passion then they would be OK and the boys in blue couldnt touch them

Is this law really enforced?

I believe in Tasmania homosexuality is still illegal, as is cross-dressing between dusk and dawn.

Not sure if hanging out washing on Sundays was another one?

Is it just a silly thing that no one bothers with?

In the city of York it is permissable to kill a Scotsman provided it is done on a sunday within the city walls and with a crossbow.

So if you were Osama bin Laden and wanted to assasinate the current prime minister of the UK, you could do it quite legally assuming you met the above conditions.

In a consensual sex situation, a woman is allowed to change her mind any time before penetration. If the man insists, he can be charged with rape. Now what happens if she says no after they had oral sex but before penetration? If he forces his way in, that's rape. If he doesn't, both man and woman are guilty of oral sex. What a dilemma!

You are expats living in Singapore and do not know the laws of the country you have been relocated to! As a professional in a large corporate it would behoove all of you to have done a little due diligence before arriving, in order to know the customs and culture and laws of your host country.

I myself considered it required due diligence to know the law before relocating to Singapore with my lady wife.

I consulted with HR on this and other matters, such a housing and home leave trips.

But because of the nature of this part of the world I asked HR to be quite specific on these delicate matters, the ones mentioned above (oral) but also, to put it politely, laws relating to back door action.

In coming prepared I am comfortable I now know where the boundaries lie and know what is and is not allowed.

In future postings perhaps you will do the same.
